5 Reasons Why Teachers Should Blog

Why should teachers blog?

Here are 5 Reasons Why Teachers Should Blog!

5 Reasons Why Teachers Should Blog

  1. A blog allows educators to collate a departmental digital log to share resources, reflect on teaching and learning experiences, showcase projects, ask for help, share information from PD, and, of course, be tech savvy!
  2. A blog can be an excellent online library of resources containing useful links, articles, content, activities, etc. The process of selecting good quality and ‘tested’ resources and adding them to a blog will save us all a lot of time in the future.
  3. If you are a blogging teacher you are a published academic.
  4. Blogging is a great way to receive real and thoughtful feedback from other teaching colleagues.
  5. Blogging is an excellent form of professional development. Blogging can contribute towards your QCT hours as you will be reading, writing and publishing content to add to your professional knowledge, professional practice and professional engagement, as per the requirements found in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. https://www.qct.edu.au/PDF/PSU/QCT_AustProfStandards.pdf

Happy blogging!

The 21st Century Learner and Educator

As 21st century educators our role is to prepare our students for a rapidly changing world. Students are not just learning about the "3 R's" anymore; our students are learning how to be creative, communicate, and create change on local, national and global levels.

We are encouraging our students to participate in real-life, real-world service learning projects by creating a culture of inquiry. We are moving from the role of 'dispenser of information' to facilitator of learning.

We are encouraging and fostering learning by helping our students make sense of all the information exposed to them on a daily basis and to help them reach their full potential as human beings.

We are not just providing answers. We are supporting them as they make new discoveries and encouraging them when they make mistakes. We are teaching future generations about resilience, compassion and making good choices.
